That was the last time Tara would take her brother up on a dare. “I dare you to eat a chip dipped in mustard,” he had challenged her.
“How bad could it be?” Tara thought. She dipped a chip in mustard and put it in her mouth. It was tart and tangy. She cringed, and her whole family laughed. Even Tara couldn’t suppress a giggle!
What does “suppress” mean? (to hold back an emotion or urge)

know the word, say, “I don’t know” but still cross it out and go to the next one.
* You can also cut the words out, put on a metal ring, and have the student flip each card over.
